Garage door repair in Middleton

We repair and replace garage doors across Middleton, at newer homes near Highway 44 and Middleton Road and at shops on bigger lots outside town. We fix and install the openers that drive them, too.

Our trucks head out from Nampa, and estimates are free. We also cover nearby Caldwell and Star.

Newer homes: watch the cables and the balance

In newer neighborhoods, trouble often starts small: the door hangs a little low on one side, a gap shows along the floor, or the opener groans on the way up. That usually means the door is out of balance, from a fraying cable or a weakening spring.

Cable replacement swaps worn lift cables and re-balances the door so both sides travel evenly. A tune-up is different: it lubricates, adjusts and checks the sensors and auto-reverse on a door that still works, catching small problems before parts break.

Acreage and farm shops

Larger lots in Canyon County often hold a farm shop or equipment building with an extra-wide or extra-tall door. More door means more weight on the springs and cables, and a strong wind presses on a big door and its track.

When a shop door is rusted through or cracked across several sections, new garage door installation may beat another repair. If you are unsure which way to go, see our guide on when to repair and when to replace.

If a cable or spring lets go

A snapped cable or spring can leave the door crooked or jammed partway. Stop using the opener, since it can strain the motor or pull the door further out of line, keep children and pets clear, and don't walk under the door.

The tension in torsion springs and their cables can seriously hurt you, so never loosen, unwind or detach them on your own. On a door with a broken spring, the red release cord can send the door down hard; pull it only once the door is shut or while someone holds it in place.

FAQ

Common questions

My cable is frayed but the door still works. Can it wait?

It shouldn't. A frayed cable can snap under load and drop that side of the door. Stop using the door and call us to replace it.

Is it worth repairing an old shop door, or should I replace it?

If the sections and track are sound, fixing it often comes in under the cost of a new door. If several panels are rusted through or cracked, we'll show you what replacement involves and price both.

Our farm shop door has no opener. Do you still work on it?

Yes. A hand-lifted door runs on the same springs, cables, rollers and track as a powered one, and they wear the same way. If it has turned heavy or drifts when you let go, the springs need attention, so stop using it and leave the adjustment to us.

Our farm shop door gets sluggish by late summer. Why?

Heat and field dust dry out the lubricant and pack grit into rollers and hinges, so the door drags and the opener works harder. A tune-up relubricates them, and badly worn rollers can be swapped for quiet nylon ones.
